17th Sunday Homily

I enjoy preparing a homily each week, but it will be nice not to have to for the next three Sundays while I am in Spain. It’s good to sit at Mass and listen to what someone else has to say for a change, not least because it reminds me every year of what you and others like you have to put up with week after week.

The dramatic drop in the number of people attending churches in recent years has many causes, my own view being that, at the very heart of this modern phenomenon, a whole farmyard-full of chickens are coming home to roost.
